Time sure flies when you’re having fun and building something that just keeps getting better and better. Since PBS started we have completed over 35,000 projects and have evolved to be one of the region's top Environmental-Engineering firms. Our company started from a small architectural practice owned by Ned Peck, after he was cajoled by his biggest client (the U.S. Postal Service) to assess asbestos issues in their facilities.
PBS was originally formed by three architects (Ned Peck, David Butts, and Stephen Smiley) who maintained a steady consulting practice with local clients including Portland Public Schools, Multnomah County, and the Port of Portland.
From 1988 on, PBS has grown steadily and diversified into other core areas (Engineering, Geo-Environmental, Natural Resources, and Health & Safety). In the past few years, PBS has grown to over 150 people in eight offices. While PBS' founders have moved on or retired, a steady succession plan continues to place the firm's ownership with the people who now lead their respective practice areas.
PBS has been successful in many ways, in that we: promote a culture of supportive management, maintain high-quality staff, and are focused on providing excellent service in each core area.
Cheers to a major milestone and to our great clients and staff that helped get us here!
