PBS and Tri-State Construction Team Win WSDOT Environmental Excellence Award
PBS and Tri-State Construction have been working together for the past two and a half years on the I-405, I-5 to SR-169 Stage 1 – Widening Design/Build Project in Renton and Tukwila, Washington, valued at $92 million. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) awards two Environmental Excellence Awards annually.
“To be recognized at this level is a well-deserved honor and a testament to all of the hard work and time that the team put towards environmental compliance,” says Gary Stensland, the Environmental Compliance Manager in PBS’ Seattle Office. What made this project unique and challenging was the extensive work required in close proximity to numerous sensitive areas including streams, wetlands, buffers, and jurisdictional ditches. The team incorporated many innovative construction methods and best management practices to minimize impacts to these sensitive areas and exceed permit requirements.
