Esther Short Streetscape

Location: Washington

The Esther Short Streetscape was a catalyst project that improved four city blocks adjacent to historic Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver, Washington. This project created a gateway into the downtown area, incorporating both a roundabout and unique water feature showcasing the Captain George Vancouver statue. The project provided improved access to the new Vancouver Hilton Hotel and Conference Center as well as the Vancouver Commons Building and Slocum House.

The focal point of the project is the urban roundabout constructed at the intersection of 6th Street and Esther Street. The feature incorporates concentric and radial scoring patterns in the concrete to emulate the face of a clock, complementing the clock tower in Esther Short Park.
