Vancouver, WA – Community service is a core component of the culture at PBS Engineering and Environmental. The company’s human resources manager discussed PBS’ most recent charitable efforts, as well as the value of teamwork.

buddybags2015“In addition to all the good it does for those in need, giving back really brings all of us at PBS closer together,” said Tami Skiles, the firm’s Human Resources Manager. “When we work as a group, we’re able to accomplish amazing things.”

This was evident at PBS’ annual Leadership Summit held in Vancouver, Washington last week, where more than 60 staff members worked in teams to assemble 150 “Backpack Buddy Bags” containing healthy snacks for children on reduced school lunch programs in the region. The group also packed 150 bags with hygienic supplies to be donated to local homeless shelters.

The bags were distributed through each of PBS’ eight Northwest offices, for donation to schools and homeless shelters within their own communities.

Tami explained that the effort wouldn’t have been possible without the help of local businesses that provided goods and services to facilitate the program.

“Several local insurance carriers and medical professionals provided support. Our insurance broker, Steve Gay at Servco Pacific, helped coordinate communications. Dr. Keith Peters DMD donated 200 toothbrushes, and we received several supplies from Sun Life Financial and Regence Insurance Companies.”

“Tami Skiles and Michelle Bartley, our Office Manager in Vancouver, played key roles in coordinating the event,” explained Guy Neal, President at PBS. “It was heartwarming to see how eagerly the entire team jumped in to give back to the communities that have done so much to support us. It’s a testament to the fact that at its core, the best part of PBS is its people.”
