Coos County On-Call Services

Since 2005, PBS has supplied on-call engineering and environmental consulting services to Coos County for its 650 mile road system as well as its 90-mile, high-pressure gas pipeline system. Projects completed thus far for this contract have included emergency geotechnical analysis and stabilization services for over 50 roadway failures that occurred during large storm events. One site required the installation of a cantilever pile wall with lagging just above the ordinary high water mark of the river and designed a rock fill to stabilize the existing road fill. Packages consisting of a cross-section, general reconnaissance, remedial treatment alternatives, and estimated construction costs were submitted to the County under fast-track timelines. Those packages were in turn submitted to Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) out of which significant funding was obtained. PBS also assessed potential impacts to pipelines from ground movement and provided recommendations for to minimize risks to the pipelines.
