Prescott Building Geotechnical Services

PBS was selected to provide geotechnical investigation and design services for the construction of a seven-floor, mixed-use retail and residential building. A subsurface investigation was conducted to evaluate soil conditions within the site. Based on our findings, geotechnical design recommendations were provided for foundations, pavements, and earthwork. PBS later completed the design of the soldier pile and lagging shoring. Our scope also included reviewing previous geotechnical plans for basement excavation, meeting attendance, assisting with permitting for the shoring design per City of Portland requirements and geotechnical construction observation services. Construction observation entailed monitoring fill placement and compaction; shallow foundation subgrade preparation, temporary cut slope excavations, and settlement/movement monitoring. Daily reports were submitted outlining the details of our monitoring activities.
